Voice cloning and voice banking
SpeakTrue is a text-to-speech and AAC app for people with speech loss. AAC means tools that help you communicate when speech is hard. Voice cloning makes a voice from recordings of a person. Then SpeakTrue says what you type in that voice.
Voice banking means recording your voice while you can, so that you can use it later. If your speech is changing, you can record your voice now. Keep your own copy of your recordings. SpeakTrue does not keep the samples used for Premium voices. On-device recordings stay on your phone unless you save the voice to your account.

On-device voices
- Make the voice in the iPhone app or the Android beta. It is in every plan, including Free.
- Record with a guided reading script, or choose an audio file.
- The voice runs on your phone. It works offline and has no usage limit.
- On-device voices need free storage (165 MB to 3.2 GB for each model). They work best on a phone or tablet with 6 GB of memory or more.
- You can save the voice to your SpeakTrue account. The Free plan saves 1 voice. Other plans save up to 50 voices.
Premium voices from ElevenLabs
- Premium voice cloning is in the Pro plan. Your first Pro subscription starts with a 7-day free trial.
- Record with a guided reading script, or upload clear audio samples.
- Your samples are sent to ElevenLabs to make the voice. SpeakTrue deletes the samples from its own storage after the voice is made or rejected.
- Premium voices need an internet connection. They use your monthly Premium allowance. See the plans and prices.
Tips for good recordings
- Record in a quiet room.
- Read the script naturally. Pauses and small mistakes are okay.
- How close the voice sounds to you depends on your recordings and the kind of voice.
