Type to speak on the web and iPhone
SpeakTrue is a text-to-speech and AAC app for people with speech loss. AAC means tools that help you communicate when speech is hard. You type a message, and SpeakTrue says it out loud.
How it works
- Open SpeakTrue in a web browser or in the iPhone app.
- Type what you want to say.
- Press play. SpeakTrue says it out loud in the voice you choose.
Where you can use it
- On the web. Go to web.speaktrue.cc in a web browser. There is nothing to install. Voices on the web need an internet connection.
- On iPhone. Get SpeakTrue from the App Store. The iPhone app also has on-device voices. They run on your phone and work offline.
- On Android. SpeakTrue for Android is in testing. You can join the Android beta.
One account works on every SpeakTrue app. Sign in with the same account on each device.
Save the phrases you use most
The Soundboard keeps messages you say often, such as “Please give me a moment” or “Can you speak more slowly?”. Tap a saved message to play it. You do not have to type it again.
Choose a voice
- On-device voices run on your phone and work offline. They have no usage limit.
- Standard cloud voices are clear voices for everyday use. They need an internet connection.
- Premium voices are the most natural, from ElevenLabs. They need an internet connection.
- Your own voice. You can make a voice from recordings of your voice. Read about voice cloning and voice banking.
What it costs
You can start on the Free plan. Cloud voices have a daily limit and a monthly limit on every plan, so free does not mean unlimited. Paid plans start at $1.99 a month. See the plans and prices.
